DominanceI love quiet people,Dominance by Lalita17
because eventually they do something crazy
and its everyone else’s turn to watch,
unable to form words.
It is the violent surprise of fat snow,
falling softly, softly
without a sound,
picking up more and more weight as it tumbles along.
Spinning quickly, until the storm has reshaped into a turbulent white art.
This was her.
a light play of secrets ready to tumble out.
a harder tone that kept me awake at night.
less a show of affection, and more a sign of dominance.
We sat in silence,
but it wasn't the silence that suffocated me.
Tigers cannot purr. To show happiness, tigers squint or close their eyes. This is because losing vision lowers defense, so tigers (and many other cats) only purposefully do so when they feel comfortable and safe.
There were once nine subspecies of tigers: Bengal, Siberian, Indochinese, South Chinese, Sumatran, Malayan, Caspian, Javan and Bali. Of these, the last three are extinct, one is extinct in the wild, and the rest are endangered.
This one (Charcoal and graphite) took 19 hours to finish~
If you're interested in seeing it in person it will be part of the Artist Showcase, August 2nd - 9th at St. Stephen University~
To adopt an animal through World Wildlife Foundation:
Bengal tiger: Less than 2,000
Indochinese tiger: 750-1,300
Siberian tiger: Around 450
Sumatran tiger: 400-500
Malayan tiger: 600-800
South Chinese tiger: Extinct in the wild
Caspian tiger: Extinct
Javan tiger: Extinct
Bali tiger: Extinct
There are only about 3,500 tigers left in the wild.
That's less than the population of St. Stephen.
Tigers scratch trees and use their urine to mark their territories. Their urine smells strongly of buttered popcorn.
Hello to anyone who is bored enough to read this!|
I’m an intense theater geek and poetic freak.
I love art, creating art, admiring other artists and their forms of art, and singing out loud to whoever is around. I sing while I brush my teeth; I think that’s worth bonus points.
Over my not very vast years I’ve played a snooty actrice, lovesick bimbette, a little boy with a big imagination, talk-show host, but more importantly a mother who’s lost a son, a mighty sea witch, kick ass archer chick, maenad for the God of wine and theatre: Dionysus, and a victim who succumbs to the worst form of revenge by taking fate into her own hands.
I mostly do pencil/graphite/charcoal art, but I love watercolor, and sometimes I fiddle with acrylic.
I also stare at lots and lots of photography…
One day I hope to be respected in the art and theater world. Many, many years from now, when I have spent time working on these crafts.
I play the piano religiously. When I’m away from home, thinking of my piano makes me homesick. Also my fluffy cat: Sebastian.
I love laughing till your sides hurt, sitting in the dark theatre after the movie is done just to watch the credits roll by and contemplate, eating passion-fruit just for the name, falling in love with strangers and never seeing them again because that ache in your heart is both melancholy and a sign you're living, and I love love.
Optimism is contagious.
